Karnataka Vice President DK Shivkumar on Monday ended speculation over a leadership change in the state, indicating on a climb with a strong statement that “no one needs to be afraid”.
For some time, there was talk of a power-sharing agreement between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar, but the Congress was reduced from high command after clear instructions.
Congress MLA Ha Iqbal Hussain claimed that Shivkumar, known as DKS, could get a chance to become the Chief Minister in two to three months. Associate Minister KN Rajanna also indicated the “revolutionary” political development in the state after September.
However, DKS ended the power change buzz, saying that there would be no change in leadership and he does not want anyone to support him.
Shivkumar said, “No one needs to be afraid. We are making an organizational improvement at blocks and district levels across the country.” “We are listening to the statements made by various MLAs. There is a need to bring discipline to the party. Discipline is important.”
Shivkumar said that referring to an organizational reform of Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge, Shivkumar said that all district presidents have been called about their needs, responsibilities, infrastructure requirements and consultation about the way the organization gives a new look.
“… every leader will be talked about, and local teams will be sent across the state. There is no talk of any leadership change. There is nothing. For me, 2028 is important,” he said.
He further said that he would issue a notice to Hussain, stating that HC Balakrishna or BR Patil, no one should go in front of the media.
He said, “It is our government’s duty to stand by the common man … there is no leadership change, I do not want anyone to support me.”
