India said on Thursday that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization failed to adopt a joint statement when some member countries could not give consensus, especially when Defense Minister Rajnath Singh refused to sign it.

Earlier, in a meeting of SCO’s Defense Ministers held at Kingdao, Rajnath Singh, China Did not sign communal India’s concerns over the Pakistan -backed border terrorism were not clearly addressed due to the omission of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said that the disagreement arising out of a country’s objection to India’s concerns over cross-border terrorism. As a result, SCO failed to reach a consensus on some issues, it said.

“Our Terrorism Maintains: This is a global threat to require a joint fight, “Mea spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during the weekly media briefing.

Jaiswal said that Singh participated in a two -day meeting, which has ended but the member countries present cannot adopt a joint statement.

“Some member countries could not reach a consensus on some issues, and therefore, the document could not be finalized. India wanted reflected concerns and terrorism in the document, which was not acceptable to a particular country …” he said.

He said: “In his address, the Defense Minister called upon these 11 countries to come together to fight terrorism in all their forms and expressions … He also reiterated that the sponsors of criminals, organizers, financers, condemnable acts of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism, need to be brought further …”

SCO did not confirm the failure to adopt a joint statement, responding to a media inquiry on India’s refusal to sign a joint statement due to differences on terrorism issues. It states that the meeting of defense ministers has been successful and details about the meeting between Singh and his Chinese counterpart will be provided soon.

“As far as I know, with the joint efforts of all parties, the meeting of SCO Defense Ministers was successfully concluded. For the meeting between the Defense Ministers of the two countries, we will release information in the appropriate time,” said Chinese National Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Ziaongang.

What did India say in SCO meat?

Speaking at the SCO meeting in China, Singh said that there should be no double standards on terrorism. Without naming any country, he said that terrorism and peace cannot be present together.

“I believe that the biggest challenges we are in our region are related to peace, security and lack of trust. And the root cause of these problems is increasing fanaticism, extremism and terrorism,” he said.

He further warned against the threat of terrorist groups, which are gaining access to the weapons of collective destruction (WMD), said: “Peace and prosperity cannot co-co-exist with the spread of weapons of terrorism and large-scale destruction (WMDs) in the hands of terrorism and non-state actors and terrorist groups.
