Mumbai: Customs arrested a 34 -year -old man for smuggling 16 foreign snakes from Bangkok, which was associated with a wildlife smuggling syndicate.
Mumbai: A 34 -year -old man was arrested by Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to try to smuggle 16 foreign snakes in the country. The man was identified as Goodman Linford Leo from Chennai.
The custom staff stopped the flyer after reaching the city from Bangkok on Friday night.
The accused was booked under the Customs Act for illegally smuggling foreign animals. Initial investigation shows that it is part of a large wildlife smuggling syndicate, which is under investigation.
According to the provisions of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and Customs Wildlife Protection Act, the sources are working to send the sources back to the country, an official said that an official of the Rescink Association for Wildlife Welfare helped the handling and identification of snakes.
