Sheikh Hasina was excluded as Prime Minister Bangladesh And the country fled after mass protests under the leadership of the students. Hundreds of people were killed by security forces in action on protesters. Sheikh Hasina had ruled Bangladesh with an iron fist for 20 years out of the last 28 years. The recently appointed chief of the Army described the rebellion as a “revolutionary period”. Khaled Zia, a former Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition, was freed from the arrest of the house after the dictator escaped. Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus was named interim leader.
