The London-Prophetinian protesters on Monday urged Wimbledon to release Barclays as a sponsor on Monday due to the trading behavior of the British bank with Israel.

About two dozen protesters of the Palestine solidarity campaign displayed by the main entrance of the All England Club as thousands of fans for the day of the tournament arrived.

“They are banks for arms companies that are clearly supplying arms to Israel,” Khalid Zalme told the Associated Press. “We should not demolish Israel, we should not allow anyone to facilitate them, and I think relations with Israel should be cut off, the way relationships with Russia were cut.”

A guard gave a hint stating that Barclay “is a sponsor of Wimbledon and Genocide.”

Hamas-led terrorists killed some 1,200 people, mostly citizens, and 251 people abducted in October 7, 2023, who gave rise to the Israeli-Hamas war.

According to the Ministry of Health, Israel’s military response caused the death of 56,000 Palestinians, which does not distinguish between citizens and fighters. It says that more than half of the dead were women and children.

Wimbledon did not immediately respond to the remarks request.

Barclays said that it is “proud of our partnership with Wimbledon” and defended its commercial practices.

“We offer a range of financial services and products to companies supplying defense products to UK, NATO and its colleagues,” the company’s statement said. “As NATO, the European Union and the UK have to increase their defense capabilities in response to growing geo -political threats, the provision of financial products and services in the defense sector is becoming increasingly important.”
