Amid increased conflicts between Israeli and Iran, Qatar has carried forward the monitoring of radiation levels in the Gulf after the Israeli aerial attack at the Iranian atomic and energy sites. On Tuesday, Katri Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed that Doha was monitoring environmental development in the region, while calling for international awareness of a possible decline from attacks on sensitive facilities.“We are monitoring it on a daily basis,” Al-Ansari said during a news conference.“We have nothing to be worried about right now, but will clearly have unexpected results of prolonged growth.”
Gulf Waters Under Watch: Qatar warns of potential regional impact
Al-Ansari emphasized the strategic and environmental importance of the bay water, described them as the primary water source of the region. He warned that any military action targeting atomic or energy -related facilities can lead to results beyond the current prediction.“We have to emphasize, when we are talking about the water of the Gulf, this is the main source of water for all of us in the region,” he said.“The international community will have to make it clear that any goal of nuclear facilities in the region, for any targeting of fuel or energy facilities, will have effects that are unknown to us in the Gulf.”
Atomic and energy site killed in fifth day as a struggle
The current growth began on Friday when Israel launched a major air campaign against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. This marked the onset of five-day exchange of missile strikes between the two countries.Iran’s major nuclear enrichment features, which were among the goals of Israel, are located deep inland. However, Iran also operates a nuclear power plant in Bushahr along the coast.According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran informed the United Nations Nuclear Sentinel that the Bushahar plant was not targeted. The statement was released by IAEA on Friday. On Saturday, Israel targeted an important Iranian gas installation on the Gulf coast. The feature supports the South Parse gas area, a major energy project shared between Iran and Qatar.
Qatar energy condemns the attack on infrastructure
Confirming that Qatar part of the shared gas sector is unaffected, the Qatari government expressed concern over risks on such attacks for regional stability.Al-Ansari said, “Qatar’s own facilities in the area are safe.”However, he strongly criticized the Israeli attacks on Iran’s energy assets. They described the tasks as “careless”, which add calls for Qatar’s day-assessment and urge international stakeholders to prevent more volatility in the bay.
