World number two Carlos Alakraj on Sunday left Leheka to seal his second queen’s title with a win in an absorbed final.
Spaniard won 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 6–2 to take the title of his 21st career, but was hard work by In-Form Leheka, who was only one of the only five players who defeated Alakraj this year.
Leheka had seen the British number one Jack Draper in the final four to secure her place in the finals and was initially unable to deal with the quality of Alakraj in the first set.
But a very close to the second set went to the distance, to overcome the disappointment of lobed after a spectacular drop shot in a tie-brake with Leheka, then to level a single and match.
However, Alakraj showed why he was such a malignant rival as he broke up his way to get a gear in the third to overcome the disappointment, quickly broke down on his way to achieve matches and titles.
It was a win of 18th match in a row for Alakraj and the fifth title in 2025, to ensure that he begins his bid for a third gradual Wimbledon Crown as a player.
“I am happy to pick up this trophy once again,” said Alakraj.
“It has been an incredible week. I came without expectations and just wanted to play good tennis and to put grass habit.
“It is really playing here every year and I can’t wait to come back next year.”
