Former F1 driver Ralph Schumakar has claimed that McLaren has now decided “internal” to favor Oscar Piastry for this year’s World Championship.
Schumacher claims after this Lando Noris Canadian crashed out of Grand Prix.
After running behind Noris Piastry, Circuit Gills failed to complete the race at Villainuway as the pair fought for fourth place on Lap 67.
Piyastri has a 22 -point gains on Noris in the standing of drivers when going to the Austrian Grand Prix of this weekend.
Talking to Sky Germany, Shumakar reported that Noris has “too much weaknesses” and “make too many mistakes”.
“I believe it has now been decided internal that Piastry is the person who will focus in the context of the team World Championship,” Schumakar said.
“Lando reflects too much weaknesses and makes a lot of mistakes, including its sensitive driving behind the Oscar in Canada.
“He has apologized and shows that he is a great person. But there is no use, because great people rarely win the title.”
Noris “still has speed”
Despite the loss of Noris in the drivers championships, their speed cannot be questioned.
Until the qualification in Montreal, the Noris looked overwhelming to take the position of the pole.
The British driver then made a mistake on his first run in Q3, which was wide in the last smooth.
He held the wall in his second lap in qualifying, making him ranked seventh on the grid.
Nevertheless, Noris looked like the fastest man in the race, putting heavy pressure on his team partner before his confrontation.
Shumakar said that Noris was “once again” rapidly compared to Piastry, even though the result was not in favor of the British driver.
“This is now a low point because he has lost his nerve a little,” said Shumacher.
“You have to give him one thing, he was once again faster than Piastry.
“They did not manage to qualify for it, but they stopped the difference in the race and were simply better. They still have speed, especially in the race. Noris has this sensitivity when it comes to tension on tires. [Alain] The time of prost, someone must have called a ‘professor’. The only problem is in the head of the lando. ,
