Razor is launching a new $ 350 external graphics attachment that can promote visual performance of gaming laptops or handheld, provided you invest some other investments. Razor Core X V2 Rapid Thunderbolt 5 is the first of the Razor’s core X EGPU chassis lineup to support the standard, providing a single cable that provides electricity up to 140W to connected host devices.
Some generational upgrades provided by Core X V2 include support for large four-slots AMD and NVidia GPU, and backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 4. Laptops equipped with Thunderbolt 5 are still very rare, but the core X V2 must theoretically support the bandwidth speed for 80 GBPS for devices.
In addition to the 120 mm cooling fan, that single thunderbolt 5 cable is only other accessories. This means that customers will not only need to buy a compatible desktop graphics card (which can get the price for a more powerful model), but also a standard ATX power supply that meets their GPU requirements in addition to 230W for Core X V2.
Previous razor core attachment models, such as $ 399 Core X CromaA pre-installed power came up with a power supply. The change probably provides more flexibility with elevated power requirements for the GPU, but for all the rest, it is just an additional expense.
The Razor Core X V2 also loses the integrated USB and Ethernet port provided by its predecessors. Users that require more connectivity to external devices Too Need to buy a compatible thunderbolt 5 dock – just like $ 390 one that razor announced easily Core X V2.
Thunderbolt 5 dock is currently available to buy on the website of Razor. The core X V2 is also listed, but not yet on sale. We have asked the razor to share when the EGPU will be available to buy.
