Afghanistan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki met with Russian ambassador on Thursday

Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki called it a “courageous” decision.

He met the Russian ambassador of Afghanistan, Dimitri Zirnov in Kabul on Thursday, Where Mr. Zirnov officially expressed his government’s decision to recognize the Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan.

Mutaki said that it was a new phase of positive relationships, mutual respect and creative connection “, and that shift would serve as” an example “for other countries.

Despite the report of increasing violations on human rights, the Taliban has demanded international recognition and investment since returning to power in August 2021.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “We believe that the official recognition of the government of Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan will inspire the development of productive bilateral cooperation among our countries.”

It said that Russia saw the ability to “commercial and economic” in “energy, transport, agriculture and infrastructure”, and it would continue to help Kibul fight the dangers of terrorism and drug trafficking.

Taliban members mark the third anniversary of the collapse of Kabul in 2024.

Russia was one of the very few countries, who did not close their embassy in Afghanistan in 2021, and said on Telegram that “expanding conversations with Kabul” was important in terms of regional safety and economic development.

In 2022, there were also countries signing an international economic agreement with the Taliban, where they agreed to supply oil, gas and wheat to Afghanistan.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Taliban was removed from the list of Russian terrorist organizations in April this year with the intention of paving the way for the establishment of “full partnership” with Kabul.

Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the Taliban as a “ally” in fighting terrorism in July last year, in which the representatives were with representatives of the visit to Moscow for negotiations in early 2018.

After invading the country in 1979, the two countries have a complex history and fought a nine -year war, with 15,000 personnel.

The decision to establish the USSR -backed government in Kabul converted the Soviet Union into an international paria, and finally withdrew from Afghanistan in February 1989.

Western governments and human organizations have widely condemned the Taliban government, especially for their implementation of Sharia, which impose heavy restrictions on women and girls.

In the last four years, women have been stopped from reaching secondary and higher education, they are unable to leave their homes without a male chapron and are subject to strict dress code.

Legislation has become increasingly restrictive, with the latest installation of ‘virtuous’ laws, women have been banned from speaking outside their homes.

The United Nations has stated that the amount of rules is “gender apartheid”, while the former is also reporting publicly and cruel attacks on government officials.

Afghanistan were imposed strict sanctions by the United Nations Security Council in 2021, especially the cold of about $ 9BN in the property.

While China, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Pakistan have nominated all the Ambassadors of Kabul, Russia is now the only country to recognize the Taliban government since returning to power almost four years ago.
