One thing I was thinking in rehearsal was what my high school experience looked. People will tell stories from school and goods, and I did not really have so. I felt a little different. Therefore, I always felt disconnected in that way. I went a little high school, but it was mostly done on the set. It became useful for Shelby, because what was actually echoed was [the feeling of being a] Teenager, but some parts of you feel that you are already an adult. It became a useful tool for me, just related to my life. But no matter what a person’s teenage experience was, this show surrounds anger and catarsis, no one listens to you, and all those things that belong to boyhood, but normally only related to femininity.
there was a new York Times The article that came out on the second day about the show, which was titled “Why are women leaving this broadway show in tears“What do you make all this?
It is beautiful and it is heartbreaking. There are viewers that through this drama, they are able to think about things that have occurred in their own lives that probably live in that gray field that this play talks a lot. And so, a lot of women join it. Many of my friends who come to see it have very similar reactions, and it brings important conversation. This is actually seen by people. Apparently, we had not planned its time, but to tell this story right now, under the same administration that Kimberly wrote [the play] Years ago … coming back to that place is really dark. It seems that there is a gift that we get to do now.
What do you expect people go away from watching the show?
I like it when people get out with anger, because I definitely feel a lot in the entire show. Finally, however, I hope through Shelby and Railin [played by Amalia Yoo]- About their friendship – There is a praise for those connections in your life, and the feeling of hope is that, with the people around you, on which you can bow down, you can change the world for a second. This is what these girls do. They change the world around them for the length of a song.
