New Delhi. Under the ‘Yamuna Bachao’ campaign, a large -scale inspection campaign has been launched in the capital, which will be adopted by zero tolerance on those who violate. PWD and Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh have ordered immediate strict action to prevent the flow of illegal and untreated sewage and industrial waste in the capital to revive the Yamuna River of Delhi and to protect the environment of the capital.

Describing water pollution as a serious threat to public health and ecological balance, the minister has directed all concerned departments to run extensive inspection and enforcement campaigns, so that 100% adherence to environmental standards can be ensured.

Immediate inspection started in the capital:
All concerned departments have been ordered to conduct intensive inspections of all industrial, commercial and other establishments that are legally bound to set up and operate STP (sewage treatment plant) or ETP (Fluent Treatment Plant). Inspection will ensure that these plants are not only set up but are in a complete current position.

Zero tolerance on violation:

Strict legal action will be taken against whatever establishment will not be found to follow the prescribed environmental standards, under the Water (Pollution Prevention and Control) Act, 1974. No one will be given any discount.

Central Monitoring System:
A real-time e-dashboard will be created, which will monitor inspection, violations and corrective action. All departments will have to submit progress reports in every fortnight in the ministerial office.

Departmental coordination mandatory:
Parvesh Sahib Singh has given instructions to increase the coordination between all enforcement and technical departments, so that the delay of bureaucracy is over and quick results at the ground level.
