But Stein’s way took a significant turn during his year, when he suffered the destructive loss of his father, Donald. While channeling his grief in creativity, he founded Donny Charms, a scarf business named in his honor. Handling each piece, Stein still put his heart in the brand while working in the channel. When a major wholesale order converted Donny into a new scope, his dedication paid, which inspired him to start manufacturing and eventually left the channel to focus full -time on his venture.
Stein eventually shifted operations to Los Angeles, rebuilding the business in the form of Donny, and despite no formal design experience, took a bold jump into a ready-to-face clothing. Impressively, within four weeks, he expanded the brand from the scarf to a full clothing line with about 30 skies, showing his natural talent and fearless ambition.
Today, Dony is known for its fashionable yet versatile pieces that echo with modern women and appear on major retail platforms such as Revolves and Shopbop.
