Senegal theater reverses the wig ban after backlash

A sudden and rapidly prohibited ban on wigs, hair extensions and skin -lighting products in a prestigious theater in Senegal’s capital Dakar has ignited a comprehensive public backlash to fulfill the deeper stresses around the West African nation, gender politics and cultural nationalism.

The internal memorandum was approved by the Ministry of National Culture and was released on Monday by Serring Fall Guaye, Director, Grand Ther Day Dakar.
