Asia Cup 2025 schedule: After weeks of uncertainty and back-and-forth discussions, Asia Cup 2025 has finally been given the green signal. The tournament, initially set to be hosted by Pakistan, has now officially been moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As per reports, the competition is scheduled to begin from 9 September, though the official schedule is yet to be released. However, several media outlets have hinted at a possible timeline for the high-voltage India vs Pakistan encounters.
India vs Pakistan Showdown Could Happen Twice
Due to strained diplomatic relations, India and Pakistan do not engage in bilateral series. Their only encounters come in multi-nation tournaments like those organized by ICC and ACC.
Following the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam earlier this year, speculation was rife that the two sides might not even meet at all in the 2025 edition. However, according to the latest reports, India and Pakistan could face each other twice—once in the group stage and again in the Super Four round.
The group stage match between the arch-rivals is tentatively set for 14 September, while the Super Four clashes stage is expected to start from 20 September onwards.
Format and Teams – A Larger Line-Up in 2025
The upcoming Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, given the preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026. While six teams competed in the last edition, this time the field has expanded to eight teams. Participating nations include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong.
The teams have been divided into two groups:
Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman
Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong
