After ending the club World Cup with a 3-4 defeat to Al Hilal, Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola appreciated the dedication displayed by his players and employees throughout the tournament. He announced that the team would take some time to rest and rejuvenate before it strengthens the next season.
Al Hilal won the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals over Manchester City with a 4-3 win. Marocos Leonardo’s double, including an additional time winner, sealed his victory.
Guardiola’s team made an impressive start, scoring Bernardo Silva with a loose ball to give the city an initial lead. Al Hilal replaced the game with two goals in the first seven minutes of the second half. Earling Hand’s equality forced the match in extra time, but the Saudi side won with two goals, despite Phil Foden’s 100th goal for the city.
“At this stage, they are all difficult games. We allowed them to make infection, but we made a lot, and in general, we were good. It’s a mercy. We were in such a good place, and I cannot tell you how they train and prepare for the staff; they have given everything.
Guardiola quoted by the official website of the club, “We did many action, and Bauonu made incredible savings. I think the team is doing well, but we now go home to rest and refresh our minds and come back to the next season.”
Club players and coaches will now take a break before returning to the City Football Academy in preparation for 2025/26 domestic season. Looking forward for the future, Guardiola in this new form noted some positive aspects of four matches in the tournament.
“I saw many good things that I had not seen in the past, especially how we were, the relationship between players and employees.
