Mercedes team principal Toto Wolf has indicated interest in signing the Max Vastapane for the 2026 Formula 1 season, possibly associated with George Russell that will be a blockbuster driver line-up.
In an interview on Friday, Wolf confirmed that the four -time world champions were performed with Vastapane, currently under a contract with Red Bull by 2028. Discussions have reportedly affected conversation with Russell, which are in the top form this season.
Russell reduced any concern, stating Sky Sports F1: “It is completely common that conversation is going on with the choice of Vastapane. But from my side, if I am performing, I am doing, what do I worry? Every formula 1 team has two seats.”
Although Wolf has long shown interest in Volstapaine, he emphasized satisfaction with Russell’s current line-up and 17-year-old Ruki Kimi Antoneley. Nevertheless, speculation continues that Wolf may be ready to manage the high-dynamic dynamic between Vastapane and Russell, which have several on-and-track clashes in the last one year.
