Apple is allegedly getting ready to update two of its smartwatches: high-end Apple Watch Ultra and more affordable SE model. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, both products are expected to be launched at the end of this year, which will lead to some very important changes in the lineup.
So far, Apple Watch Ultra has only seen small changes since the launch in 2022. A new chip was added in 2023, and a black titanium option was available last year. A large feature such as satellite connectivity will help to justify an upgrade for current ultra owners and can give Apple something new to highlight its fall lineup.
At the same time, Apple is planning to refresh the Apple Watch SE. It is the company’s entry-level model, which is aimed at those who want smartwatch, but do not require all advanced features found in ultra or series models. The current SE has not been updated since 2022, so a refreshing is. While the details are still limited, we can see improvements such as a sharp chip, better battery life, or small design twice.

These updates come at a time when Apple’s wearables are showing signs of business slowing down. Wearbals, Home and Accessories Division saw a decline of 7% in revenue in the last financial year. The Apple Watch fell more than 14% alone and may decline again this year.
If satellite messaging arrives, Apple will be one of the first people to offer such feature in consumer-grade smartwatch. While Garmin offers emergency satellite abilities in some of its outdoor-centric wearbals, this feature is not widespread in the mainstream smartwatch. This can give Apple a competitive lead, especially among adventure and fitness enthusiasts who give importance to reliable off-grid communication.
It is encouraging to see that Apple can pay more attention to its smartwatch lineup, especially after a few years of minimum changes. A more capable ultra model with satellite connectivity can open new use cases, and a fresh SE can first attract smartwatch buyers.
If well executed, these updates can help apple re -achieve some speeds lost in the wear space space. Nevertheless, the real test would be whether these new features translate into the real world value for everyday users-and whether Apple can balance the innovation with the kind of reliability and polish that its customers expect.
