Joint teams of Operation Unit and police stations of West District Police are running an operation to identify and capture criminals involved in the incidents of looting in the area. Meanwhile, the police came to know about Vinay alias Mota. He is a wanted criminal in the list of police. The police was looking for him long ago. He was seen in Rajouri Garden area on several occasions.

Shot on police

Police said that the activity of the suspect was found in Rajouri at around 9 pm on 26 June 2025. Many police teams were alerted as soon as information was received from the informers. An attempt was made to catch the area by siege. At around 10 pm, the police saw him coming on a motorcycle on the dirty Nala Road behind Sanjay Gandhi Animal Hospital. As soon as the police indicated him to stop, he suddenly started firing. A bullet hit a policeman’s bulletproof jacket, causing no loss of life and property.

The police immediately started counter -firing. A bullet of the police was shot in the right leg of the criminal. He was immediately caught and sent to the hospital for treatment. According to the police, Vinay alias Mota has been involved in many serious incidents in the western district of Delhi on the strength of robbery, snatch and weapons. There are more than 56 criminal cases against him. He was absconding for a long time. A desi pistol and live cartridges have also been recovered in the police action.

At present, the police have registered a case against the accused under attempt to murder, keeping illegal weapons and other related sections. Further investigation is on. Police say that this encounter will curb the incidents of robbery in the area.
