Fernley is practicing with Jack Draper at All England Club, who are with good friends on the junior circuit since their time.
Draper goes to the tournament as the fourth seed, with Fernley Great Britain’s number two in the ranking.
Fernley said, “We all look at Jack and what he is doing, from where he was from where he was.” “This is very inspiring for a man like me.
“I am just trying to improve. Hopefully, one day I can be Jack, but the way he goes about his business is difficult to follow. He is very professional and the level she is playing is really high.”
Fernley enjoyed the victory at Carlos Alkaraz and Jannik Sinner in Juniors, but has adopted a different route from those superstars of the game.
He graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU) in the United States just before his first appearance at Wimbledon, spent five years to play college tennis.
“I felt that I only reached the peak of my college after my fifth year,” he explained.
“This is a time when you can mature and find out what your priorities are. I realized that tennis is what I want to do and then I put all the eggs in a basket.”
