The Special Investigation Team (SIT), who is handling the case, questioned Midhun Reddy for several hours in Vijayawada before arresting him around 7:30 pm.
Confirming the arrest, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalpuri Anitha told PTI, “Yes (he has been arrested). The process (to produce it before a court) is going on.”
Midhun Reddy, who represents the Rajampet constituency, reached Vijayawada in the first day, which was to appear before sitting. His arrest follows the custody of other accused in the case, including Dhanunjaya Reddy, Krishna Mohan Reddy and Balaji Govindappa.
YSRCP hits back
Reacting to the arrest, the opposition YSRCP accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of using the case as a tool to take political revenge. Party leader Malladi Vishnu called the action part of a “Vindwik conspiracy” against the leaders of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Vishnu said in a statement, “But we will call back Chandrababu Naidu’s Bluff.” “The higher the action of the Naidu government, the stronger our resolve is to fight back and highlight the failures and corruption of the current coalition government.” Senior YSRCP leader L APP Reddy also defended Midhun Reddy, saying that he comes from a respected political family and voluntarily showed respect for the law by participating in the investigation. “I am confident that justice will be strong,” he told PTI video. The case is still under investigation.
